Like it or not…the holidays and their madness are less than 2 weeks away…are you ready?
If you’re anything like me, you adore the holiday season! That said, it does seem to always sneak up on me somehow.
And, whether I’m planning a big get together or trying to just keep it simple, there’s no way to get around all the stuff that needs to be done before the holiday cheer begins.
So, this year…I’m going to try and keep my wits about me and still enjoy the season!
And here’s my 3 step plan:
This Holiday Season, I’m going to focus on family
I’m not going to make the holidays all about how bright and shiny the tree is. This holiday season, I’m going to make an effort to spend more time just hanging out with the gang! Yep, this year is all about letting go of the illusion of giving them the Movie Scene perfect Christmas. Plus, that costs a lot of money! Instead, I’m going to strive to just sit down with family and experience them…without all the false facade. The most memorable family experiences often involve simply spending time together and enjoying one another’s company after all!
I plan on putting more energy on the spirit of giving
I know I say this every year but this year will be about the spirit of giving. I will be conscience of getting caught up in equating giving to make me feel good to giving to other so they can feel warm and comfortable. I’m going to see what I can do to help others and see what that does for me during this season of giving.
I’m going to let others pitch in and not do everything myself
I’m so bad at this! I put so much on my plate that by the end of it all, I’m so stressed out worrying about this and that, I lose all sense of what’s really important. Just like you, my list this time of year is a mile long! I may consider skipping a couple of stressful items this year. If I don’t get my Christmas Cards out this year, oh well. If I need some help wrapping gifts, I will ask for help and I will try and shop for items during the middle of the week and in the middle of the day to avoid long lines and stressed out shoppers.
I hope I take my own advise here…I’ll let you know how I do!
